Information MyLawBox Collects On-Line and How MyLawBox Uses It

PERSONALLY IDENTIFYING INFORMATION

Personally identifying information is generally available to MyLawBox only if you supply it voluntarily through the Web site or in connection with a purchase of a subscription. For instance, in setting up your Member Account, MyLawBox collects certain types of personal information such as your name, credit card number for Member Accounts, and e-mail address. MyLawBox also collects corporate information such as firm name, phone number, fax number, company address, and number of potential users, related to the particular authorized user for billing and reporting purposes for the corporate account holder. Other information that identifies you personally may be collected by MyLawBox through comments, inquiries or suggestions submitted through MyLawBox’s site. MyLawBox does not collect any additional information from third parties except Judgments from the Courts which may contain information on you if you have been involved in a particular legal matter that has been sent to MyLawBox. MyLawBox may publish such a judgment as part of its normal business and for no other reason. All collection of credit card information - where the payment is real time - is done using a third party vendor. The third party uses industry standard SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encrypted servers. SSL codes the information transferred between you and the server, rendering it unreadable to anyone trying to intercept the information.

You are not required to provide any personal information to search MyLawBox’s databases. However, you are required to establish an account which provides a username and password in order to fully access certain materials in MyLawBox’s databases. You can change your password at any time but not your username. Any password you choose may be accessed by MyLawBox staff but no-one else. Any personal information that you share with MyLawBox will be used for limited internal purposes, including processing your transactions, customer service, marketing, development, content processing, content classification and providing you with information regarding MyLawBox’s services. Please note that if you do wish to receive MyLawBox’s Law Bulletin newsletter, you need to subscribe to this separately - there is no fee for this. Details on subscribing to the Bulletin are available on the front page of the Site. With Member Accounts, MyLawBox does not share your name, e-mail address, credit card numbers, mailing address, purchasing history or any other personal identifying information that is collected from the Site with any third parties, except as necessary to process your transactions.

MyLawBox reserves the right to disclose your personal information if required to do so by law, or in the belief of good faith that such action is reasonably necessary to comply with legal process, respond to claims, or to protect the rights, property or safety of its employees, its customers, or the public. If MyLawBox did so disclose the information, MyLawBox would, if allowed by law, inform you of such a disclosure.

Your access to most services and content is password protected. MyLawBox recommends that you do not divulge your password to anyone. MyLawBox will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or in an unsolicited email. You should not disclose your user name and password to others. In addition, if applicable, you should remember to sign out of your MyLawBox account or service at the end of each session. You may also wish to close your browser window when you have finished your work. A final precaution would be to clear the browser cache after the session. The cache stores files that you have accessed and may allow another to view your legal research or personal information and correspondence if you share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place like a library or Internet cafe.

Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Accordingly, despite MyLawBox’s efforts to protect your personal information, MyLawBox cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to MyLawBox, or to or from MyLawBox’s online products or services. You transmit all such information at your own risk. However, once MyLawBox receives your transmission, MyLawBox makes its best effort to ensure its security on its systems.

E-MAIL ADDRESSES

MyLawBox collects e-mail addresses as part of providing services. MyLawBox may send you e-mails from time-to-time for customer service or marketing purposes. In no circumstances is your e-mail address shared, sold, given to any third party or any affiliated company without your consent.

For instance, MyLawBox may collect various forms of click stream information such as IP address information, entry and exit points for the Site (i.e., referring URLs or domains), search terms, site traffic, page views, impressions, and operating system and browser type. Such aggregate information generally will not personally identify you or be correlated to you. MyLawBox may collect, compile, store, publish, promote, report, sell, or otherwise disclose or use any and all aggregate information, provided that, such information does not personally identify you.

COOKIES

MyLawBox may make use of "cookies" on the Site. Cookies are small text files that are stored on a user's computer by the Web server through a user's browser. A cookie itself is not designed or intended to read any information from your computer (other than the contents of the cookie); rather, it is an identifier used by a web site that originally placed it on your hard drive. The actual contents of the cookie information can be retrieved by the same server to identify the computer and subsequently to customize, monitor, or regulate the use of the site based on information stored in the cookie or host server. Therefore, cookies allow MyLawBox to automate access and data entry functions of the Site such as login information, correlate online ordering information for purchases you may make while at the Site (if any), tailor the Site to your preferences or interests, or customize promotions or marketing. In addition, cookies allow MyLawBox to track usage of the Site to determine those areas of the Site which are useful or popular and those that are not thereby enabling it to improve and update the Site effectively.

You may adjust your Web browsers to either alert you of the use of cookies or refuse to accept cookies entirely. For Internet Explorer, you can click on the "Start" button and then select Control Panel, Internet Options and the Security tab. If you click on the "Custom" button, you will be able to see the cookie options. For Netscape users, in the browser, select File, Preferences and then Advanced to view the cookie options. Beware that if you elect not to accept cookies, some parts of the Site may not function properly or permit access.

ADVERTISING SERVICES AND PROFILING

MyLawBox does not carry advertisements but in the event that it does in the future it will not supply and will not permit advertising services on the Site to directly collect any personally identifying information; however, in some cases, IP address information may be referred to an advertising service servicing ads on the Site.

You also should be aware that an advertising service may have the ability to correlate otherwise anonymous cookie information that it collects from the Site (or co-branded sites) to you if you have previously provided personally identifying information to (a) the advertising service directly or (b) a site which shares such information with the same advertising service. In any case you should refer to the advertising service's privacy policy.

Links to Other Sites

A link from the Site to another site does not imply endorsement of that site. MyLawBox does not control the sites to which it links and assumes no responsibility for their content or privacy policies. Therefore, you should carefully review all terms and conditions that apply to any site you access from the Site. This includes any company providing on-line payment via credit card or e-banking.

Updating and Access to Your Information

As a fee paying subscriber you can, at any time, update your account information, review your usage, and receive your password by e-mail if you have forgotten it. MyLawBox is not responsible for any of the information so viewed, received or altered since the control of your username and password and your e-mail is your responsibility. Users who allow others to use their account for accessing this service are in breach of the Terms & Conditionsof use of this service and access may be denied.
